How Else Can I Obtain The Austin Police Report Related To My Accident?


Texas law stipulates that a law enforcement officer investigating Texas car crashes resulting in serious injury, death, or property damage over $1,000 must submit a written police accident report to Texas Department of Transportation within 10 days of the incident.


To obtain your Texas auto accident report, you must have at least two or three of the following things:

  1. Crash ID

  2. Name of persons involved in the accident

  3. Date of the accident

  4. Location of the accident

Furthermore, you can obtain your Austin automobile accident report either online, in person, or by mail.


Online


The Texas Department of Transportation makes many Texas police accident reports available online. Regular uncertified copies of accident reports cost $6.00. Certified copies cost $8.00. You must wait seven to ten days to access your crash online.


Additionally, you can obtain your online Austin crash report at austintexas.gov. Austin now uses LexisNexis as a crash report database. Reports are no longer available via the APD Incident Report Database.


If you were involved in a car accident outside of Austin city limits, you can only find the report through Travis County.

Individuals can also obtain Austin police accident reports in person. Firstly, contact APD Report Sale at 512 974-5499 and get a case number. Then, visit the APD precinct that responded to your accident. You’ll need your case number to request a copy of the accident report.

Can I Get A Travis County Sheriff’s Office Car Accident Report Online?


Yes. Crash Reports composed by the Travis County Sherriff's office can be obtained electronically or in person. If you want to obtain the report online it is done through the Crash Report Online Purchasing System through TXDOT.


The Travis County Sheriff’s Office has an accident report request form you can fill out and submit. If you need to access the accident report request form in person, you can get a copy Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm at 5555 Airport Blvd., Austin, TX, 78751.


How Do I Get A Car Accident Report for Hays County?


Obtaining an accident report in Hays County requires a written request made to the Sherriff's department. You can either take the request to the department physically, by email, or you fax the written request to the Hays Sherriff's Department at 512-393-2246.


To submit in-person or by mail, you would use the following physical address:


Hays County Criminal District Attorney – Civil Division, Hays County Government Center, 712 South Stagecoach Trail, Ste. 2057, San Marcos, TX 78666. If you choose this method, you'll need to request the Public Information Act Request Form.


How Do I Obtain an Accident Report in Williamson County?


To obtain an accident report related to a car accident that occurred in Williamson County, you need to fill out an Open Records Request Form and provide the form to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Records Division. The physical address of the Sherriff's office is 508 South Rock St., Georgetown, TX, 78626. You can also contact the Williamson County Sherriff's Department by calling 512-943-1300 to speak to the county sheriff.


Blue Forms


APD asks drivers to fill out a blue form report if:

  1. A law enforcement officer did not investigate the accident.

  2. Property damage from the crash was less than $1,000.00.

  3. The auto accident did not result in injury or death.

If you fill out a blue form, keep it for your records. You can obtain a blue form report from txdot.gov.
